In 2019 A Head Start Children’s Centre included elements of the new Abecedarian Approach Australia into our curriculum which mirrors aspects of HighScope.

The strategies offered by the Abecedarian approach support adult-child interactions from babies to preschool. The strategies include enriched one to one interaction, conversational reading and learning games with children to occur naturally and consistently throughout our day. Local primary schools too are introducing the Abecedarian approach into parts of their curriculum to unify aspects of early childhood and early primary curriculums, to benefit our children across the sectors.
